Super Lens at a brilliant Price

This little 50mm f1.7 lens is extremely sensible for the worth it's sold at. Granted, you get what you buy, however what you get may be a terribly quick lens w/ sensible bokeh. The built-in hood may be a joke and there is no f-scale, however a decent shootist will still get terribly memorable photos with this lens. If these things are a nuisance, then go get a decent B&W metal hood and one amongst their wonderful slim line UV haze filters and learn to evaluate distance. it is a sensible portrait lens on the 7D. BTW, to people who do not know, this lens is an auto-focus lens, hence MAXXUM. Maxxum suggests that auto-focus. obtaining this lens will not disappoint you.

nice camera for the money

I really relish this camera. I even have additionally owned the three date. each are similar; additional options on this one. Did not charge, failed to work Minolta 7D.

I came this battery. it might not charge (looked adore it was charging however then once many hours the charging light-weight would blink indicating it absolutely was dead).

GREAT For The Price!

I bought this hoping it might work well with my Sony Alpha 350 and fortunately it works nice with it (glad I did not have to pay $180 for Sony's sync terminal adapter!) My solely grievance concerning it's that each sync wires i attempted with it match loosely and that i had to place alittle rubber band around it to stay the cord from falling out. It stays okay, however if it's tugged on alittle bit when attempting to urge the proper angle for an image, it pulls out pretty simply. With all that said, however, it's still WELL definitely worth the cash and i would positively suggest it.

Excellent medium telephoto for the AF mount

I've had this lens for some of years currently and am pretty pleased with it.



The good:

Cheap. an honest copy are often had beneath $200.

Very well designed.

Excellent image quality.

The famous "Minolta colors".

Reasonably quick at f/4.0.

Constant f/4.0 throughout vary.

Length doesn't amendment whereas zooming.

Sharp wide open.



The bad:

It's a 20+ year previous lens, hence older technology and older coatings.

A bit of CA.

No focus limiter.

Heavy.

AF is slow (but smart on the Sony A700).



On the entire, this can be the sole constant f/4 medium telephoto lens within the Sony alpha (Minolta AF) line up. No third party and no Sony equivalent.

Great image quality. Nice heat colours. Sharp wide open and nice at five.6 and beyond. Nice serious feel. Metal body, designed to last. nice for portraits and street, sports. Versatile length and smart speed.

When it misses focus, it must zoom in and out which might take 2-3 seconds on my Sony A100. Focus limiter would are helpful.

Good bang-for-the-buck lens.

This lens has truly designed up a cult following among the previous Minolta shooters, that has continued into the Sony alpha line up. individuals rave regarding the "Minolta colors", the image quality etc. There can be a little of exaggeration in different reviews, like something that has designed up an honest name.
