As for the lens shadows: take away THE SUN SHADE from the lens. If you permit the sun shade on throughout flash/zoom photography, you may get the "shade/shadow effect" you talked regarding. it is not the lens, it is the shade. This info is included within the manual (always scan THE MANUAL before posting negative reviews!)
To the user disappointed within the manual focus: USE THE FOCUSING INDICATOR. Even in manual focus, the camera can still check for focus. When the little inexperienced dot within the read finder goes solid, you're in focus. Again, this info is within the manual. scan THE MANUAL before posting negative reviews!
Overall, the camera is a superb worth. it's full of options that were exclusive to cameras costing a whole lot (sometimes thousands) of greenbacks a lot of simply a couple of short years ago. costs are dropping attributable to the amendment in market focus (everyone desires to travel digital.)
